Wrongful Death Claim involving Hotel Fire gets Dismissed

In Winona, Minnesota, it is reported that a second wrongful death lawsuit was dismissed against the owner of a hotel located in Independence, Wisconsin. In February 2009, the hotel burned down and three men died during the fire.
According to the Winona Daily News, the lawsuit was dismissed after a minor settlement with the owner of the hotel, Corazon Peterson, was reached with her insurance company. The personal injury claim was filed by the families of Gerardo Reyes Perez and Humberto Hernandez Vanegas, both who died during the apartment building fire.
At this time, the amount of the settlement has not been disclosed as Trempealeau County Circuit Court Judge John Damon agreed to seal the case along with any documents pertaining to the case.
It is reported that The Hotel Tap building had failed fire inspections prior to the blaze.
