Elderly Man Accidentally Runs Over Wife

Tragedy struck in San Diego when an elderly husband ran over his own wife, sadly taking her life.

According to San Diego police, Berniece Mosley was at her sister's house when her husband accidentally ran her over at the corner of Broadmoor Drive and Broadmoor Place. She was originally seated in the front passenger seat of the 1998 Honda Accord when it accelerated as her husband was backing out of the driveway. According to police Lt. Dan Willis, the car then went into the street, went backward over the sidewalk, causing Mosely to be ejected and eventually run over.

Although emergency personnel rushed to the scene of the car accident, they were unable to save her life. Investigators are still attempting to discern whether the acceleration was a result of a medical condition, or whether a mechanical problem is to blame for this tragic accident.

The state Department of Motor Vehicles has asked that her husband's ability to operate a motor vehicle be re-evaluated before allowing him to drive again.
