Man Suffers Catastrophic Injury On The job
A young worker at the Spreckles Sugar Plant found himself victim to catastrophic injuries on the job last week.
According to police reports, the victim fell into an area containing boiling water and sustained second degree burns to his feet as a result. Emergency responders flew him to the University of California San Diego Medical Center where he is still being treated. His current conditions are unknown.
Burns, even second-degree burns, are no joking matter. You have to take care of your burns in order to prevent further infection and serious scarring. In most cases burns of this degree can be treated by a hospital; however, four out of 100 people each year will perish due to burn-related injuries. Most of these deaths happen on the way to the hospital or at the scene.
