$14 Million Award Given in Slip and Fall Case
One woman has finally won her fight to keep a $14 million award granted by a jury last year. The 41-year-old woman slipped and fell on a grease spot at a major retailer and was seriously injured as a result of her accident.
The premises liability case was a long and arduous one. While she was originally given $14 million by the jury that heard her trial, the major retailer appealed the verdict and was granted a new trial. The second trial would have revealed the same information as the first, including the fact that she was forced to have three surgeries as a result of harming her spine in the fall. However, the state Supreme Court overruled the lower court's decision to grant a new trial.
