Helicopter Rescues Amputation Victim
A helicopter was flown into a work site to scoop up a man with a severed arm last week in San Diego County.
According to police reports, the man was working near the San Luis Rey River when a steel cable snapped and got stuck in some heavy machinery. His arm was also trapped in the machinery until emergency medical crews were able to extract it. While he was flown to a nearby hospital, police searched for the severed arm.
It was finally located nearly 50 yards away from where the accident happened. It was packed in ice and transported to the same hospital as the victim. Luckily, the man is in stable condition but doctors were not able to reattach his arm.
