Man Loses Life during Bike-Tractor-Trailer Accident
A man in Towamenci was lucky not to have lost his life when he steered his bicycle into a tractor-trailer last week.
William Cotton, 78, was riding down Welsh Road when he went directly into the path of a tractor-trailer driven by Stephen Riley, 49. Although the driver had attempted to pass the bicycle after crossing the intersection of Welsh and Orvilla, Cotton, for no apparent reason, veered his bicycle sharply to the left and into the path of Riley.
An officer from Lansdale Borough responded immediately to the scene and called it in to Towamencin Police. Cotton was transported to the Abington Memorial Hospital by the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale where he was treated for his injuries. He is currently still at the hospital until he is well enough to leave.
