Motorcyclist Loses Life after Bike Goes Out of Control
A motorcyclist lost his life on a desert highway last weekend when he lost control of his bicycle.
According to police reports the victim, a 64-year-old man from Borrego Springs, was riding on the highway when his bike swerved over the double yellow lines, crashing head-on into a car in the opposing lanes. While he had been heading east on State Route 78, the 1983 BMW 320i was heading west and was unable to move out of his way in time.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. As his next of kin has yet to be notified, his identity is being withheld from the public at this time. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with complaints of back pain. Although they have yet to determine the exact cause of the motorcycle accident, the California Highway Patrol believes that speed is to blame.
