Albany Care Center Cited for Violations
A new list has been released this week by state officials listing nursing homes that have violated basic health and safety rules.
One of the homes on the list was the Albany Care Center from Evanston. The center received several 'A' violations and was fined $12j500 by the Illinois Department of Public Health and Safety. Each facility is expected to conduct a risk assessment evaluation of their own facility and staff to ensure the highest levels of patient care. The Albany Care Center, however, showed on multiple occasions to be providing lower levels of care than deemed acceptable by state law.
In one specific case of nursing home abuse, a resident had been found to have violently attacked another, to the point of fracturing ribs and vertebrae, an incident that should not have happened under the proper care. Since that resident was found to be under inadequate supervision, the home was ultimately to blame for the violent outburst, not the patient himself.
