Bicyclist Loses Life after SUV Loses Control
When a SUV lost control off state Route 56, a bicyclist lost his life.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim, Baron Herdelin-Doherty, 51, was riding his bike along the path when the vehicle came out of nowhere. Although he was transported to the hospital in critical condition, Herdelin-Doherty lost his life later that day. He had recently been named the CEO and president of the YMCA in San Diego County last year.
The driver of the other vehicle, 27-year-old Sheena Saranita, suffered just minor injuries and was later released from the hospital.
Herdelin-Doherty leaves behind a wife and two children in Poway. He worked as a bioenergy company executive.
