YMCA Executive Hit during Bike Accident

Baron Herdelin-Doherty was out for a leisurely bike ride when he was struck by a SUV, receiving serious injuries.

Herdelin-Doherty has been credited with improving the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. He was accompanied by Nick Venuto, a bioenergy company executive, who lost his life in the bicycle accident. Commenting on the crash, Art Athans, spokesman for the California Highway Patrol, called it a "freak accident" that has saddened the community.

The YMCA director is expected to make a full recovery, although he did receive broken arms, ribs and hips as a result of the bicycle accident.
