Former Senator Loses Leg during Accident
Former Wisconsin state senator Dave Zien was in a serious motorcycle accident that caused him to lose part of his left leg.
Zien was riding on Interstate 10 when an SUV attempted to switch lanes in front of him, lost control and flipped over. The former senator was unable to avoid the accident and wound up underneath the vehicle. He was rushed to Tallahassee Memorial Medical Center by helicopter to treat his catastrophic injuries. These included a broken hip as well as the loss of part of his left leg. He is lucky not to have sustained brain trauma as well since he was not wearing a helmet.
His partner, Sue Bowe, told the press that "I've always believed that he had nine lives. Believe me, he'll be back on a bike again."
Dave Zien can be remembered for the thirteen years he spent in the state Senate, from 1993 to 2006.
