Mother May Have Been DUI
Police now believe that the mother responsible for killing her own 9-year-old daughter may have had as many as 12 beers before operating her car.
Karen Honeycutt, 41, has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence, second-degree murder, driving under the influence of drug and alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol content of more than .08 percent.
While police only found one beer can in her vehicle at the time of arrest, they uncovered eleven more at her residence. In addition toxicology reports show that her BAC was .22, almost three times the legal limit. There were also traces of marijuana in her blood.
Honeycutt had her three children in the family Jeep - Charles William Jr., 17; Zachary, 8; and Chloe, 9 - when the accident happened. While the other children sustained minor injuries Chloe lost her life when she was thrown from the vehicle. The driver suffered a broken neck in the accident.
