Woman Crushed to Death At Work
Tragedy struck in Queens when a woman was crushed to death at the dry cleaning plant where she worked. According to the manager of An Huan Laundry in Jamaica, Limin Min Huang was feeding towels into a machine when her scarf got caught. She was unable to free herself before the machine pulled her in and crushed her before going into auto shut-off mode.
Huang had been a regular employee at the dry cleaning plant for three years.
In any situation where an employee is expected to work with heavy machinery, appropriate training and safety gear must be provided. In this case it appears that Huang was not instructed to wear loose garments around the machines. However, workers must also be aware that machinery can malfunction or break at any moment, especially if it is not maintained properly. They must be cautious and aware of the injuries that can be received in these circumstances.
