Man Charged with Elder Abuse
Denise D’Sant Angelo is no stranger to the criminal system.
Before being charged with financial elder abuse and grand theft this week, Angelo had already been convicted of felony grand theft. At that time, she had stolen $2,800 from funds intended to help three nuns find a place to live. She returns to court this week to face Deputy District Attorney Brian Cota who has leveled several charges against her.
Of them, Cota believes that Angelo went to an elderly couple in their seventies whose home was in danger of foreclosure. She had met them before while allegedly collecting money for the three nuns, and told them that she could save their home. Over a period of one year, Angelo took $30,000 from the couple for imaginary services rendered.
As a result, Angelo has been charged with seven counts of financial elder abuse and grand theft, as well as one count of unauthorized practice of law.
