Suspect Released after Causing Bicycle Accident
If you are responsible for a crime, you will eventually be caught, as proven by the hardworking detectives in San Diego this week.
Joseph Ricardo Fernandez, 46, was released this month for his involvement in a bicycle accident that took the life of James Swarzman, 47. He had been riding his bike with friends near Leucadia State Beach when Fernandez hit him with his truck. Although Swarzman was rushed to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, he later died from his accident-related injuries.
Fernandez, however, drove off and left Swarzman on the street. Although detectives later examined his Dodge Ram 1500, they didn’t have enough to formally charge him at that time. Perhaps a guilty conscience finally affected him, but Fernandez later turned himself in and was re-arrested for the fatal bicycle accident. He is now being held on $100,000 bail and will be arraigned later this week in San Diego.
