After losing a father and a son, one family decided to file a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the boat on which they lost their lives.
The boat accident happened this year on March 27th when ten people were out for a sailing excursion on San Diego Bay. At one point the boat capsized, throwing all ten people into the water, several of whom had special needs. Of those, just two lost their lives: a 48-year-old man and his 73-year-old father.
The trip had been organized by a company that uses sailing as therapy for people with developmental disabilities. At the time of the boat accident, seven of the ten people on board all belonged to the same family.
While the boat manufacturing company has only issued a few scant statements, they did state that the boat was overloaded at the time. Since there are several warnings on board about capacity limits, they may not be held responsible for the accident.
