Pilot Killed After Being Struck By Propeller
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a private pilot was killed after being struck in the head by a moving propeller. The incident occurred at Gillespie Field on the morning of Monday, January 30, 2012. Local news reported that the pilot and another individual were hand cranking the propeller of the plane, a single-engine Piper Cherokee, when the pilot was struck in the head. He was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead at approximately 1pm. As of Monday afternoon, the cause of the accident was still under investigation.
When an accident occurs, the question of fault may arise. Was someone else accountable for the victim's injuries? In this situation, a thorough investigation may reveal that the incident was caused by a faulty price of machinery or perhaps by the victim's own mistake.
